Executive Director
Louisiana Soccer Association seeks Executive Director for a full-time, salaried position based on Baton Rouge, Louisiana. The Executive Director is responsible for the executive and daily executive administrative activities required to support and expand the membership, programs and objectives of Louisiana Soccer Association. ROLE OF THE EXECUTIVE DIRECTOR
- Implement the policies and directives of the LSA
- Maintain the office and official records of the LSA
- Manage and supervise the work and activities of all LSA staff (both paid and unpaid)
- Attend and participate in all meetings of the LSA Board of Directors and general membership as well as regional and national organizations as directed by the LSA President
- Receive work direction and guidance from the President of the LSA
- Report to the President or other members of the organization as directed by the President
- Maintain the financial records of the LSA in a form and manner acceptable to the Treasurer of the LSA
- Register the player members, coaches and volunteers of the LSA so as to meet the requirements of the US Youth Soccer, US Adult Soccer or other national organizations
EXECUTIVE DIRECTION
- Meet the expectations of the elected and appointed board members and the general membership of the LSA
- Develop business plans and solicit sponsors for LSA programs
- Develop relationships with funding and sponsoring organizations including identification of grant programs and filing the appropriate applications
- Participate in and carry out negotiations for sponsorship of activities, programs and events
- Market LSA to potential members and supporters
- Evaluate LSA programs and activities and make recommendations for improvement
- Make recommendations for new programsand the expansion of current programs to meet the needs of the membership
COMMUNICATIONS AND PUBLIC RELATIONS
- Act as liaison with other state associations, US Youth Soccer and USSF at the employee level.
- Develop or facilitate relationships with other sport and recreation organizations
- Respond to all reasonable requests for information
- Manage the development and maintenance the LSA web site through a web service provider
- Present materials to the LSA Board of Directors
- Represent the LSA to the public at large, including presenting promotional and organizational material to prospective members of the LSA as part of the outreach program
- Represent the LSA to the press, and produce articles and press releases
- Develop printed program support materials, and solicit bids for the preparation, production, and distribution of the materials used in LSA activities
- Address all complaints directed toward LSA or its programs and confer with the appropriate board members if unable to resolve issues
ADMINISTRATION
- Keep the LSA President informed of all matters coming to the attention of the Executive Director and staff
- Provide the LSA President with regular reports of the activities of the LSA Executive Director, staff, and office
- Assist the President and Secretary with regular meetings of the LSA Board of Directors
- Plan, coordinate, and staff the following LSA meetings and activities: (in conjunction with the appropriate Board members or appointed positions)
- Strategy sessions of the LSA Board of Directors
- LSA Annual General Meetings and Special General Meetings
- New club affiliations
- Outreach clinics and activities
- State, regional, or national meetings
- LSA workshops
- Maintain the office of the LSA, including but not limited to:
- Manage the operation of the LSA office
- Evaluate the organizational structure of the LSA office and recommend any changes to the Board of Directors
- Supervise and regularly evaluate all office employees and volunteers
- Assist the President in the hiring of all office employees, including the State Director of Coaching
- Process all insurance claims and keep informed of insurance requirements and changes
- Maintain an inventory of promotional and information materials on hand
- Insure the physical facilities of LSA are maintained in a professional, efficient and orderly fashion
- Insure that the office information system environment is kept current with the needs of LSA and its member clubs
- Provide support for the following LSA programs.
- LSA State Run or Sponsored Tournaments
- LSA State Run Leagues
- US Adult Soccer or US Youth Soccer Regional and National Tournaments hosted by the LSA
- Olympic Development Program (ODP), including regional camps if held in Louisiana
- Club, coach and player development
- State Referee Committee and State Referee Administrator as needed and directed by the President
- Other programs as specified by the Board of Directors
- Make travel arrangements for all Board and Committee activities.
- Support the Risk Management Coordinator as directed
- Maintain the official records of the organization
- Encourage the professional development of the LSA staff through workshops, seminars and classes at educational institutions

FINANCIAL
- Provide financial reporting and control of all LSA programs under the direction of the Treasurer of the LSA
- Oversee the daily accounts of the corporation including receiving the bills and receipts of the corporation, making timely deposits of funds, and recording and preparing expenses for review and payment approval by the Treasurer of the LSA
- Be accountable for the petty cash fund
- Prepare statements of the financial affairs of the LSA for presentation to the LSA Board of Directors at each regular Board meeting in a form and manner as directed by the Treasurer of the LSA
- Maintain the financial records of the corporation such that they may be reviewed by the Treasurer of the LSA at any time during normal business hours, and within two working days notice by any member of the Board of Directors
- Provide financial reports to each committee in a manner sufficient for them to maintain budget control and in accordance with the LSA Treasurer and financial policies and procedures
PERSONNEL AND MEMBERSHIP
- Organize and distribute registration materials to approved members of the organization
- Register the at-large players and independent teams of the organization
- Maintain the complete registration records in registration and risk management system
- Assist in the recruiting of volunteers as needed to accomplish the goals and objectives of the organization
PROFESSIONAL RELATIONS
- Important to the success of this position is the manner and style in which the Executive Director works interdependently with soccer teams from numerous clubs, statewide efforts, and regional programs. Collaborative relationships with US Youth Soccer, US Adult Soccer and USSF are highly valued
- Media relations including, but not limited to, radio, news periodicals, television, and computer based formats, are important for positive communication about Louisiana Soccer Association and its activities and image
- Build synergy with amateur, professional, semi-professional and collegiate programs
- Maintain a positive image for the association.
- Apply problem-solving skills in a manner revealing potential opportunities.
- Treat membership, volunteers, and staff in a friendly, courteous manner.
MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS
- Bachelor’s Degree, Master’s Degree preferred
- Computer experience and knowledge of multiple Microsoft and other software programs
- Accounting experience and knowledge of general accounting principals
- Ability to remain sitting for long periods
- Ability to verbally communicate with membership
- Ability to read, write and follow instructions
- Ability to assist membership as needed
- Ability to lift 40 pounds
