Technical Development Academies

The Technical Development Academy ("TDA") is a simple and fun off-season program to help develop players’ technique and to teach coaches how to teach technique.

  • One hour sessions for players 7-10.
    Training 1
  • Held on the same day and at the same time in the evening each week. Example: 7-8 year olds play from 6:00-7:00 and the 9-10 year olds play from 7:00-8:00.
  • Sessions focus entirely on the development of a single technique (e.g. dribbling with laces).
  • TDA’s typically run 4-6 weeks over the winter.
  • Players are given technical activities they can use at home to practice.
  • Coaches are invited to attend and to participate. The session will be discussed with the coaches before and after each session.
  • The TDA written curriculum will be given to each coach as a resource to help focus practices on technical development.
  • Goalkeeping sessions can be included.
Again, the entire focus of the TDAs is the development of technical skills in the players as well as teaching coaches the importance of technical training at younger ages and giving them the tools to succeed.
