Target United Cup

US Youth Soccer has announced a multi-year partnership with Target, naming the retail giant the “Official Retailer of US Youth Soccer.”  Target will have a significant presence at US Youth Soccer national and regional events,  including the National Championship Series, National Presidents Cup and other prominent events.

 
Both US Youth Soccer and Target will promote the game of soccer using traditional, digital and social media integrations. Most notably, US Youth Soccer and Target will collaborate to create a unique, one-of-a-kind soccer experience, comprised of customized recreational soccer tournaments across the country called the “Target United Cup”.

 

Louisiana has been named a site for the Target United Cup and LSA has partnered with Gonzales Soccer Club to host the event in this its inaugural season.

All LSA affiliated recreational teams from 8U to 14U are invited!
8U - 10U teams will play in a jamboree style
11U - 14U teams will play in a tournament format.

In addition to the recreational tournament itself, the 2017 Target United Cup will feature a Louisiana TOPSoccer Jamboree. TOPSoccer brings the game of soccer to girls and boys with mental or physical disabilities. CLICK HERE for more information on TOPSoccer in Louisiana. There will be no cost for the TOPSoccer Jamboree.
 
The 2017 Target United Cup will also include a Referee Training Camp for young people interested in becoming a referee or in improving their craft. For more information on How to Become a Soccer Referee in LouisianaCLICK HERE
 
8U Jamboree Format 
The 8U Jamboree format consists of a minimum of two (2) games. These games will be scheduled on Saturday, if possible. Some teams may play on Sunday due to field availability. 8U will play 4v4 without a GK. Games will consist of 4 - 10 minute quarters. Each player will receive recognition for participation, however no standings are kept and no team awards will be given.
 
10U Jamboree Format
9U - 10U will play 7 v. 7 with a goalkeeper. Games will consist of 2 - 25 minute halves. Each player will receive recognition for participation, however no standings are kept and no team awards will be given. 8U Teams may not “play up” to 9U or 10U. 
 
Tournament Format (11U-14U)
LSA Tournament Rules will apply. Each team is guaranteed a minimum of 3 games weather permitting.  First and second place awards will be presented. The Off-side Rule and the Build-out Rule will apply in all games. 11U and 12U will play 8v8 with a GK. Games will consist of 2 – 30 minute halves. 13U and 14U will play 11v11 with a GK. Games will consist of 2 - 35 minute halves. There will be no overtime in bracket games.
 
Co-ed Team Rules
Co-ed teams must have at least 4 players of each gender on their roster and present at each game. All players must play.
There must be at least 2 players of each gender on the field at all times.
